Marcus Aurelius (AD 121 – 180) in full Caesar Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus , original name (until AD 161) Marcus Annius Verus Roman emperor (AD 161–180), best known for his Meditations on Stoic philosophy. Marcus Aurelius has symbolized for many generations in the West the Golden Age of the Roman Empire.
